WoW: Forever troubleshooting: fixing login, connection and launch problems

WoW: Forever won't start, keeps disconnecting or won't let you create a character? The most common problems with login, rulesets and factions, groups and graphics cards, and how to fix them.

Not every problem with World of Warcraft: Forever comes from your PC. Especially in the first days after the launch on 4 November 2026, many errors were on the server side, and the only fix was to wait. This troubleshooting guide shows how to tell quickly and what you can do yourself in all other cases: disconnects, locked rulesets and factions, party members you cannot see, crashes and graphics cards that are no longer supported.

Check first: servers, maintenance and access

Before you change anything on your system, settle three things:

  1. Is there an outage or maintenance? Blizzard announces outages and maintenance in the Battle.net app and on its customer support channel @BlizzardCS. During maintenance the login often ends with "disconnected", which is not a problem on your side.
  2. Is your access active? Forever is included with a running World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time. If both have expired, you cannot get into the game.
  3. Is the right account selected? If you have several WoW accounts under one Battle.net account, the Battle.net app shows a second dropdown. If your Game Time is on the other account, select it there.

Disconnected (WOW51900319)

Error code WOW51900319 means your game lost its connection to the servers. If Blizzard reports no outage, work through these steps in order:

  1. Fully close the game and the Battle.net app, then start them again.
  2. Switch your router, modem and PC off and on again.
  3. Close programs that use a lot of bandwidth in the background, such as downloads, streams or cloud sync.
  4. Play on a network cable instead of Wi-Fi if you can, and update your network drivers.
  5. Try a different network, for example a mobile hotspot. If it works there, the problem is your router or your provider.
  6. Only as a last step, enable IPv6 in the game: Game Menu > Options > Network. If new problems appear afterwards, turn it off again.

If the connection drops mainly in busy cities, dungeons or battlegrounds, resetting your interface is worth a try as well (see below).

Ruleset or faction not available

Forever replaces realms with rulesets: Normal, PvP, Roleplay and Roleplay PvP, with Hardcore to follow later. Two rules cause confusion when creating characters:

  • One faction on the PvP ruleset. There you can only create characters for one faction. If your first PvP character is Horde, Alliance stays locked on that ruleset, and vice versa. On Normal, Roleplay and Hardcore you can play both factions.
  • Temporary limit for one faction. To keep Horde and Alliance at a similar size, Blizzard can temporarily limit the creation of new characters for one faction. The approach comes from Season of Discovery. Try again later or pick a different ruleset.

You cannot switch rulesets freely. To play somewhere else, you create a new character there. All rulesets side by side are in our rulesets and regions overview.

Friends invisible or party split up

On a mega-realm, Forever spreads players across several worlds. If you are in a party with friends and still cannot see them, you are usually in different worlds. The game then offers to refresh your world. You cannot accept this prompt in combat, so move to a quiet spot first.

If playing together does not work at all, check the grouping rules: parties, dungeons and raids only work within the same ruleset, and Horde and Alliance cannot form a group. How to agree on ruleset, faction and dates is covered in the guide on playing with friends.

The game won't start or crashes

Check your graphics card. Forever requires a GPU with at least one of these architectures: AMD Graphics Core Next 1 (2012), NVIDIA Maxwell (2014) or Intel Skylake (2015). Cards such as the Radeon HD 6950, the GeForce GTX 760, 770 and 780, mobile GTX 8xxM models or Intel HD Graphics 6000 are no longer supported. The reason is a shader feature the updated graphics rely on. On Windows, Device Manager shows your card under "Display adapters". More in the installation guide.

Update drivers and system. Outdated graphics drivers are a common cause of crashes. Update your graphics drivers and operating system before the first start.

Repair the game files. In the Battle.net app, the cog next to "Play" opens "Scan and Repair". It replaces damaged files without downloading everything again.

Reset your interface. Corrupt settings or old addons cause errors and disconnects. Close the game and rename the folders Cache, Interface and WTF inside World of Warcraft\_forever_, for example to Cache_old. The game creates them again on the next start. If everything works afterwards, copy your addons back one at a time to find the culprit.

Check your security software. Antivirus programs and firewalls can block the game. Explicitly allow Battle.net and World of Warcraft there.

Known bugs in the game

Not every error can be fixed on your side; some need a fix from Blizzard. On 5 November, Blizzard's list of known issues included these, among others:

  • In Razorfen Kraul there is a cauldron near Roogug that players can fall into and get stuck in.
  • PvP vendors in Orgrimmar, Stormwind and Dalaran were temporarily unavailable.
  • The quest "Vorsha the Lasher" in Ashenvale was disabled until a crash bug is fixed.
  • Bank tabs were displayed in pages, which put the tabs outside the window.

If a quest is stuck, logging in again or changing zones often helps. Report reproducible bugs through the bug report option in the game's help menu so Blizzard can recreate them.

If nothing helps

If you cannot get into your account at all, for example after a lock or with authenticator problems, Battle.net's account recovery walks you through password, unlocking and authenticator step by step. If that does not help, the Blizzard support portal puts you in touch with a Game Master. For technical problems there is also the official technical support forum; mention your graphics card, region, provider and an exact description of the error there.

Once the game runs again, you can get started right away: find groups and raids in the raid planner and a lasting community in the guild finder.

Frequently asked questions

What does error WOW51900319 mean?

Your game lost its connection to the servers. First check whether Blizzard reports an outage. If everything looks normal, restart your router and PC, close programs that use a lot of bandwidth and play on a wired connection if you can.

Why can't I create a character of the other faction on the PvP ruleset?

On the PvP ruleset you can only create characters for one faction. Once you have a Horde character there, Alliance is closed to you, and vice versa. On top of that, Blizzard can temporarily limit character creation for one faction when the balance gets too uneven.

Do I need a separate subscription for WoW: Forever?

No. Forever is included with an active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time. Without either, the game will not start. Only the Skyborne race costs extra.

My graphics card is not supported – what now?

Forever needs at least a GPU from the AMD GCN 1, NVIDIA Maxwell or Intel Skylake generation. Older cards such as the GeForce GTX 760 to 780 no longer work; the only fix is a newer graphics card.
