Level Enchanting in WoW: Forever from 1 to 300: a calculated route in 11 steps, shopping list, trainer ranks and the new Forever recipes at a glance.

Last updated: Published: 6 min readProfessionsLeveling

Enchanting is a primary profession in World of Warcraft: Forever and goes up to skill 300 as in Classic. The Forever Hub data knows 69 recipes, 63 of them new in Forever and 38 from Merchant's Favor. This guide shows the cheapest route the leveling calculator finds with these recipes.

With your own auction house prices, a different start skill, trainer recipes only or without certain recipes, the Enchanting leveling calculator works the route out again.

Why Enchanting is worth it in Forever

In Forever, Enchanting is no longer just dust and essences on other people's gear. Of the 69 recipes in our data, more than twenty make items of their own: staves such as the Glimmering Staff and the Soulstaff (skill 140), the Dreamstaff and the Radiant Staff (220), wands from the Twisted Nether Wand (185) to the Brilliant Wand (275) and above all relics for paladins, shamans and druids – the Libram of Invocation, Talons of Wrath and Totem of Ancestral Protection from 210, then at 300 the Idol of the Dream, Libram of Holy Alacrity, Totem of Thunder and six more at the Arcane Forge. On top come five necklace enchants (Agility, Deflection, Healing Power, Spell Power, Strength) from skill 210 that did not exist in Classic.

What stands out is how many of these recipes ask for other professions' materials: the necklaces need Cerulean and Magenta Dye or Sulfuric Acid from alchemists, Pyrite, Bauxite and Rosecap from Mining and Herbalism; Enchant Weapon – Revelation (140) wants four Cerulean Dye and four Sulfuric Acid, the Totem of Ancestral Protection four Sandpaper from engineers. On your own you will not get far with Enchanting – the auction house or a guild with alchemists is a must. The classic pairing with Tailoring still makes sense because cloth gear to disenchant comes with it.

Favor, camp and Legacy

38 of the 69 recipes are sold for Merchant's Favor; by the favor guide Enchanting is the most expensive profession at about 5,800 favor. The price tiers: 45 favor with no reputation (staves and weapon enchants from 140), 120 favor at Friendly (necklaces, relics and staves from 210), 180 and 240 favor at Honored (everything from 275). Enchanters fill the curiosities crates directly with Strange Dust, essences or shards for that.

The Enchanted Lute (skill 20, Simple Wood and Strange Dust) gives 308 armour, 13 to all stats and 22 to all resistances – the replacement for Mark of the Wild when no druid is around. The Arcane Salvager (140) is meant to disenchant more efficiently; how exactly, the client text does not say. The Arcane Forge (300) is the station for ten recipes from 275. Legacy points come at 150, 225 and 300 as with every crafting profession.

Trainer ranks

Without the next rank the skill stops at the cap. Each rank is taught 25 points before the end of the previous one:

  • Apprentice: skill 1–75, from character level 5
  • Journeyman: skill 50–150, from character level 10
  • Expert: skill 125–225, from character level 20
  • Artisan: skill 200–300, from character level 35

The route from 1 to 300

Without prices the calculator sorts by reagents per expected skill-up, trainer recipes first: about 294 crafts for 240 skill points, rounded up – with luck you need fewer.

New recipes in Forever

63 of 69 recipes are new in Forever. The trainer teaches 3 of them, 32 are sold for Merchant's Favor by the trade factions and 28 come from recipe items. 10 recipes need a camp station: the Arcane Forge (from skill 275).

For the camp, Enchanting makes the Enchanted Lute (from skill 20), the Arcane Salvager (from skill 140) and the Arcane Forge (from skill 300).

How the calculator works

Colours follow the Classic rule (orange from the learning skill, grey from the trivial skill), the skill-up chance in yellow and green the common community approximation (grey − skill) / (grey − yellow) that Blizzard never confirmed. For every point the calculator picks the recipe with the lowest cost per expected skill-up; the formulas are explained in the calculator under "How it is calculated".

One recipe has no trivial skill above its learning skill in the data and is left out.

Pitfalls on the route

  • The 25–70 gap is the largest of any profession. There the trainer only teaches unchanged Classic enchants that our data does not list one by one. The Runed Copper, Silver, Golden, Truesilver and Arcanite Rods attached to every recipe as tools are Classic recipes too – plan them as usual.
  • Three bracer enchants carry 70 to 254. Minor Intellect (94 Lesser Magic Essence), Lesser Agility (57 Lesser Mystic Essence) and Agility (82 Vision Dust) are cheap because they cost a single reagent. You cast them on your own gear as in Classic; our data knows no vellum substitute.
  • Enchant Gloves – Advanced Skinning (254–290) needs a Cured Rugged Hide besides two Dream Dust, which only leatherworkers make at the Tanning Rack from 225 – 38 of them for this stretch. Alternative without a leatherworker: start the Greater Eternal Wand (275–305) a little earlier.
  • The end is in Blackrock Depths. The Dormant Heart of the Mountain (295–300) needs the Black Forge as its crafting location. If you do not want to go into the instance, take Enchant Bracer – Superior Agility (295–355: three Illusion Dust, three Greater Eternal Essence, one Large Brilliant Shard).

One recipe without a trivial skill is the Arcane Forge itself.
