First Aid is a secondary profession in World of Warcraft: Forever – you learn it on top of your two primary professions – and goes up to skill 300 as in Classic. All 17 recipes the Forever Hub data knows for First Aid are new in Forever. This guide shows the cheapest route the leveling calculator finds with these recipes.

With your own auction house prices, a different start skill, trainer recipes only or without certain recipes, the First Aid leveling calculator works the route out again.

Why First Aid is more than bandages in Forever

The biggest profession change in Forever concerns First Aid: the regular healing potion line – Minor, Lesser, plain, Greater, Superior and Major Healing Potion – now belongs here and no longer to Alchemy. The trainer teaches the first three (skill 55, 85 and 135), the rest come from recipe items (155, 215, 275). The ingredients are unusual: besides the vial and a herb (Peacebloom, Briarthorn, Bruiseweed, Liferoot, Sungrass, Golden Sansam) every potion needs spices from the cooking supplies vendor – Mild, Hot or Soothing Spices. If you want to supply the whole group's potions you need Herbalism or a well-stocked auction house, but no second primary profession.

Three new families come on top. Poultices against diseases (Simple, Clever, Superior and Powerful Poultice, three per craft) are mixed from an animal part, spices and a drink from the inn – Bottle of Dalaran Noir, Thunder Ale, Dwarven Stout or Dwarven Honeymead. Tourniquets against bleeds come in wool (120), leather (200) and as the Surgical Tourniquet (265) made of Rugged Leather and Runecloth. And the Potent Anti-Venom (215) turns one Swollen Venom Sac into three. The classic bandages from linen to runecloth are still there, but as unchanged recipes they are not listed one by one in our data – hence the gaps at 1–20 and 25–55.

Camp and Legacy

The First Aid Kit (skill 20; three Linen Bandages and Refreshing Spring Water) gives the group 56 Stamina at level 60 and replaces Power Word: Fortitude – redundant with a priest, without one it is among the most valuable camp features. The Toxin Study (140; Anti-Venom, two Mageweave Bandages, two Simple Wood) contains healing potions and anti-venom according to the client text, the Plague Doctor's Laboratory (300; two Strong Anti-Venom, five Heavy Runecloth Bandages) healing potions and poultices. None of the 17 recipes needs a station, and none costs Merchant's Favor – First Aid is thus the only crafting profession that gets by entirely without the trade factions.

Secondary professions award no Legacy points. The node Field Medicine shortens Recently Bandaged by up to 10 seconds, but only in the open world; Dedicated Study gives one skill point in your lowest profession and counts secondary ones too.

Trainer ranks

Without the next rank the skill stops at the cap. Each rank is taught 25 points before the end of the previous one:

  • Apprentice: skill 1–75, from character level 5
  • Journeyman: skill 50–150, from character level 10
  • Expert: skill 125–225, from character level 20
  • Artisan: skill 200–300, from character level 35

The route from 1 to 300

Without prices the calculator sorts by reagents per expected skill-up, trainer recipes first: about 288 crafts for 250 skill points, rounded up – with luck you need fewer.

Bridge the gaps (1–20, 25–55) with your trainer's unchanged Classic recipes, which the Forever data does not list one by one.

New recipes in Forever

All 17 recipes are new in Forever. The trainer teaches 6 of them and 11 come from recipe items. None of the recipes needs a camp station.

For the camp, First Aid makes the First Aid Kit (from skill 20), the Toxin Study (from skill 140) and the Plague Doctor's Laboratory (from skill 300).

How the calculator works

Colours follow the Classic rule (orange from the learning skill, grey from the trivial skill), the skill-up chance in yellow and green the common community approximation (grey − skill) / (grey − yellow) that Blizzard never confirmed. For every point the calculator picks the recipe with the lowest cost per expected skill-up; the formulas are explained in the calculator under "How it is calculated".

One recipe has no trivial skill above its learning skill in the data and is left out.

Pitfalls on the route

  • 86 Swollen Venom Sacs. The Potent Anti-Venom is so cheap with a single reagent that the calculator runs it from 215 to 280 – 86 crafts, 258 anti-venoms. Venom sacs drop from poisonous beasts; if you have to buy them, the Superior Healing Potion (215–270) or the Superior Poultice (210–285) is often the better deal.
  • Shop for inn drinks. The poultices want 47 Bottles of Dalaran Noir, 45 Thunder Ale and 20 Flagons of Dwarven Honeymead. Get them before you collect the animal parts; 45 Murloc Fins and 47 Spider Ichor come from enemies anyway.
  • Do not forget the spices. 91 Mild, 55 Hot and 45 Soothing Spices are on the list – all from the cooking supplies vendor, not the alchemy supplier.
  • Plan the bandages yourself. For 1–20 and 25–55 you use the Classic bandages from the trainer; the calculator does not know them and shows gaps there.

One recipe without a trivial skill is the Plague Doctor's Laboratory itself.
