Tailoring is a primary profession in World of Warcraft: Forever and goes up to skill 300 as in Classic. The Forever Hub data knows 214 recipes, 180 of them new in Forever and 67 from Merchant's Favor. This guide shows the cheapest route the leveling calculator finds with these recipes.
With your own auction house prices, a different start skill, trainer recipes only or without certain recipes, the Tailoring leveling calculator works the route out again.
Why Tailoring is worth it in Forever
In Forever, Tailoring is the profession of bags. Besides the familiar cloth bags there is a complete line of reagent bags: Linen (skill 5), Woolen (70), Silk (125), Mageweave (190) and Runecloth (215, both 60 favor at Friendly), Mooncloth (255) and the Bottomless Reagent Bag (300, Loom). Add the Bottomless Bag (300), which costs twelve Mooncloth, skinners' Pristine Scales and Hides and eight Viridian Dye. The profession video's claims of a separate reagent-bag slot and 20 slots for the Bottomless Bag are unconfirmed.
The armour follows the pattern of the other professions: sets in six variants (Flame, Pearly, Pristine, Shadow, Shining and Silky) with boots (60), gloves (75), sash (85), circlet (100) and gown (110) for 30 favor each, the leggings (125) at the Spinning Wheel; from 165 to 235 handwraps, Nether shoulders and cuffs, waistcords and sandals for 60 or 90 favor, all at the Spinning Wheel; from 285 at the Loom the Runed Stygian pieces, the Conviction, Manaflare and Demonheart sets and the Classic epics Robe of the Archmage, Truefaith Vestments and Flarecore Robe.
Cerulean Dye
The most important dependency is new: 106 of the 214 Tailoring recipes need Cerulean Dye from alchemists, and 50 more from 140 need Magenta Dye. The calculated route alone uses 201 Cerulean Dye, that is 402 Frilled Lichen – a scarce Herbalism material. Without alchemists, below 125 only the Stormsewn pieces, the novice sashes, the linen bag and the banner remain, from 140 the Earthen pieces with Elemental Earth instead of dye. The classic pairing with Enchanting still works, and bolts earn double the favor of loose cloth in the crates – 20 Bolts of Linen Cloth give 10 favor, 8 Bolts of Mageweave 30.
The Faction Banner (skill 20) gives 32 Spirit, but only to your own faction, and replaces Divine Spirit. The Spinning Wheel (140) is a reagent station according to the client text; which reagents it makes, our data does not know. The Loom (300) needs Bottled Screams. Legacy points come at 150, 225 and 300; the 67 favor recipes cost 3,120 favor in total according to the favor guide.
Trainer ranks
Without the next rank the skill stops at the cap. Each rank is taught 25 points before the end of the previous one:
- Apprentice: skill 1–75, from character level 5
- Journeyman: skill 50–150, from character level 10
- Expert: skill 125–225, from character level 20
- Artisan: skill 200–300, from character level 35
The route from 1 to 300
Without prices the calculator sorts by reagents per expected skill-up, trainer recipes first: about 353 crafts for 295 skill points, rounded up – with luck you need fewer.

New recipes in Forever
180 of 214 recipes are new in Forever. The trainer teaches 2 of them, 67 are sold for Merchant's Favor by the trade factions and 111 come from recipe items. 117 recipes need a camp station: the Spinning Wheel (from skill 125) and the Loom (from skill 285).
For the camp, Tailoring makes the Faction Banner (from skill 20), the Spinning Wheel (from skill 140) and the Loom (from skill 300).
How the calculator works
Colours follow the Classic rule (orange from the learning skill, grey from the trivial skill), the skill-up chance in yellow and green the common community approximation (grey − skill) / (grey − yellow) that Blizzard never confirmed. For every point the calculator picks the recipe with the lowest cost per expected skill-up; the formulas are explained in the calculator under "How it is calculated".
One recipe has no trivial skill above its learning skill in the data and is left out.
Pitfalls on the route
- The Spinning Wheel is needed before you can build it. The favor leggings (125) and the Icy Cloak (165) require it, but it only comes at 140; the video says 145. In the route the first station recipe is the Dreamweave Gloves (205–215) from the trainer – ten of them cost 40 Wildvine and 20 Heart of the Wild.
- 60 Mooncloth at the end. The Mooncloth Boots (285–300) need four Mooncloth and two Black Pearls each; Mooncloth is a Classic recipe with a cooldown that is missing from our data. Without it you are left with the Earthenweave Crown (260–305, yellow from about 283) or the Loom with the Runed Stygian pieces and the Swarmtender's or Venomspew Gloves from 285.
- 73 Elemental Earth are in the Earthen Leggings and Earthen Silk Cuffs (140–205).
- 402 Bolts of Linen Cloth up to skill 70 – about 800 Linen Cloth. The bolt recipes are unchanged and missing from the data; the calculator buys bolts, you weave them yourself.
- Mind the favor gloves: the Flame Gloves (106–113) and Flame Sash (113–125) are cheap at 30 favor but need two to three Fire Oil each – another Classic Alchemy recipe.
One recipe without a trivial skill is the Loom itself.
