How we check the builds

Builds are taken from the talent-calculator links in the linked guides and decoded by position (row, column). Each one was checked against our Forever talent data and rules (51 points, 5 points per row, prerequisites); builds that do not fit the current talent trees were left out. The point order comes from the guide's calculator link or its level table and is only shown when every step is legal.

Hunter talents: trees, roles and what is new

Ranged fighter in mail with a tamed pet, traps and Aspects. Beast Mastery leans on the pet, Marksmanship on shots, Survival on traps and melee tricks. The calculator contains the three Forever talent trees of the Hunter – Beast Mastery, Marksmanship, and Survival – with 50 talents in total, 14 of them new in Forever (client build 1.60.1). You get one point per level from level 10, 51 at level 60.

Specializations and roles

Beast Mastery (Damage): 16 talents, 2 of them new in Forever.
Marksmanship (Damage): 16 talents, 6 of them new in Forever.
Survival (Damage): 18 talents, 6 of them new in Forever.

The calculator counts the points per tree and shows the distribution, e.g. "31/20/0". If no tree is clearly ahead, the build counts as hybrid. The role your character takes in a raid follows the tree with the most points – that is what you enter as specialization when signing up in the raid planner.

What is new for the Hunter in Forever

Besides the talents, Forever changed the class itself. From our class data:

How to use the calculator

Pick the tab of the tree you want to start with. Left click adds a rank to a talent, right click or Shift-click removes one; with the keyboard use Enter and Shift+Enter.
Each row unlocks once 5 points sit in the rows above. Locked talents name the reason when tapped – missing points or a prerequisite talent.
Keep an eye on "Remaining" and "Required level". For a leveling build, spend only as many points as your level allows.
"Copy link" shares the build; it is part of the address. From level 40 a second link for dual spec is worth having.
