This overview summarises a German-language video by Fixpunkt that walks through all twelve professions in WoW: Forever, from the cooking fire to Leatherworking. The video reflects the beta as of October 2026. We checked its claims against the Forever Hub data; anything we could not confirm is marked. Details on individual recipes are in the profession database.
The basics
The structure barely changes: you learn two primary professions – gathering professions such as Mining, Herbalism and Skinning, or crafting professions that turn those materials into gear and consumables. On top of that come the secondary professions Cooking, Fishing and First Aid, which are worth it for practically everyone in Forever.
What is new is camping: every profession can craft three camp features – at skill 20, 140 and 300. Anyone who sits at the camp for a minute receives the benefits of all features. The camping guide explains the details; plan your own camp in the camp planner.
The secondary professions
- Cooking: Most food now grants bonus experience per enemy killed, even low-level food. New items include teas and smoothies (the latter for Merchant's Favor). The cooking fire becomes a campfire in three sizes: 3 slots from skill 1, 5 slots from 140, 10 slots from 220. Add Cookie's Feast (from 140, recipe from Cookie in the Deadmines) and, from 300, the Iron Oven, which some dishes require.
- Fishing: The Fish Bowl (from 20) gives everyone at the camp 8% to all stats and thereby replaces Blessing of Kings. The Fishing Rack (140) and the Fishing Hut (300) bring better or rare fish and lures.
- First Aid: The biggest change: the regular healing potion line moves from Alchemy to First Aid. Tourniquets against bleeds and poultices against diseases are added too. For the camp there is the First Aid Kit (Stamina), the Toxin Study and the Plague Doctor's Laboratory.
What applies to all gathering professions
- In your starting zone you can already pick a gathering profession as a quest reward (as a book).
- Every gathering profession also finds scarce materials: Pyrite, Bauxite and Pitchblende in Mining, Frilled Lichen, Rosecap and Stranglevine in Herbalism, Pristine Leather, Pristine Hide and Pristine Scale in Skinning.
- You fill crates from the world with materials and trade them for Merchant's Favor – more in the Merchant's Favor guide.
- According to the video, gathering can no longer fail; orange only means a guaranteed skill point. This is not confirmed yet.
The primary professions at a glance
| Profession | New according to the video (checked by us) | Camp features 20 / 140 / 300 |
|---|---|---|
| Alchemy | Discolored Healing Potions, dyes for other professions, Dragonfire Potion and Caustic Smog Potion for Merchant's Favor | Mana Well / Fermenter / Alchemy Laboratory |
| Blacksmithing | blue mail sets such as the Protector's, Mithril Blacksmith Hammer, Ironwood Blade and Greenhammer made from Heavy Thorium Bars | Sharpening Wheel / Anvil / Master Forge |
| Enchanting | necklace enchants from 210, relics for paladins, shamans and druids, Enchant Weapon – Revelation | Enchanted Lute / Arcane Salvager / Arcane Forge |
| Engineering | SAF-T and EZ-Thro explosives, Satchel of Copper Bombs, Gnomish Poultryizer, a transporter to Mount Hyjal | Reagent Bot / Repair Bot / Anarchist's Workbench |
| Leatherworking | 271 new recipes (the most of any profession), blue sets using Pristine Leather | Camp Tent / Tanning Rack / Sewing Machine |
| Tailoring | reagent bags from linen to bottomless, spell power instead of Spirit on old recipes | Faction Banner / Spinning Wheel / Loom |
| Mining | Heavy Thorium Ore, which can only be smelted at the Molten Foundry | Lodestone / Rock Garden / Molten Foundry |
| Herbalism | new herbs such as Demonsage, seeds for the Greenhouse | Incense Candle / Greenhouse / Seed Hybridizer |
| Skinning | Fel Leather and Fel Hide as new leather types | Camp Chair / Field Guide / Trapper's Workbench |
The proven pairs remain: Mining with Blacksmithing or Engineering, Skinning with Leatherworking, Enchanting with Tailoring. The dependencies are new: tailors need the alchemists' Cerulean Dye, leatherworkers need Pristine Leather and the Tanning Rack. According to our data, 106 Tailoring recipes use that dye; the video says "almost 90" from skill 75.
Racial bonuses change as well: Tauren no longer have an Herbalism bonus; instead, their Cultivation grows a duplicate herb that can be harvested without Herbalism. Gnomes lose +15 Engineering and instead get 20% fewer malfunctions on their devices.
Matching Legacy nodes
Only the six crafting professions award Legacy points: one each at 150, 225 and 300. In the professions tree of the Legacy planner, these fit well:
- Master Chef: up to a 50% chance for an extra dish.
- Gourmand: food buffs last twice as long.
- Luremaster: up to a 50% chance for an extra fish while a lure is active.
- Field Medicine: Recently Bandaged up to 10 seconds shorter, open world only.
- Bountiful Harvest: up to 100% more scarce materials.
- Working Overtime and Dedicated Study: faster skill-ups.
Example: a camp for a dungeon group
The video plays through a group of warrior, priest, mage, rogue and shaman. Those classes already bring Stamina, Intellect and Strength, so the First Aid Kit, Incense Candle and Sharpening Wheel are redundant. Paladin and druid are missing. An angler, an enchanter and a skinner therefore place the Fish Bowl, Enchanted Lute and Camp Chair at the basic fire – a substitute for Blessing of Kings and Mark of the Wild plus 2% critical strike chance. The larger fire adds room for the Mana Well and the Lodestone.
While levelling the Fish Bowl is especially strong, because paladins only learn Blessing of Kings at level 20. Solo, Cooking and Fishing are enough for the fire and the Fish Bowl.
What is still open
We could not confirm these claims from the video:
- Gathering never fails.
- The Stranglethorn fishing contest awards a coin you can trade for a prize of your choice.
- Transmutes such as Iron to Gold work hourly instead of daily.
- The Bottomless Bag has 20 instead of 18 slots, and reagent bags get their own bag slot with 6 to 20 slots.
- Crafted wands sell to vendors for much less gold.
- Tauren Cultivation works once per hour; our data only says "each herb once".
- New flasks grant hit, crit or haste only in certain raids.
- Where Fel Leather and Fel Hide come from is, per the video itself, still unclear.
The skill at which the Spinning Wheel and Tanning Rack become necessary differs slightly: the video says 145 and 150, our data shows the first recipes for them around skill 125.

Frequently asked questions
How many professions can I learn in Forever?
As in Classic, two primary professions plus the three secondary professions Cooking, Fishing and First Aid.
Which camp features does a profession provide?
Each profession has three: one at skill 20, one at 140 and one at 300. Cooking provides the campfires themselves instead, plus Cookie's Feast and the Iron Oven.
Who makes healing potions in Forever?
The regular healing potion line now belongs to First Aid. Alchemists brew Discolored Healing Potions instead.
Do professions award Legacy points?
Yes, but only the six crafting professions: one point each at skill 150, 225 and 300, 18 points in total.
Is a profession worth it just for camping?
Usually not. The camp is a nice bonus, especially the Fish Bowl while levelling, but rarely the reason to pick a profession.
