New in Forever

New and newly trainable abilities

9 abilities are new at the class trainer or trainable for the first time:

  • Confounding Flash (level 10, new): Confuses up to 5 enemies within 8 yds for 3 sec.
  • Divine Grace (level 10, new): Instantly heals a friendly target below 50% Health for 146 to 181 and removes Weakened Soul from that target.
  • Chastise (level 20, new): Chastise the target, causing 43 to 49 Holy damage and immobilizing them for up to 2 sec.
  • Contingency Plan (level 20, new): Place a Holy ward on an ally for 30 sec.
  • Dark Sacrifice (level 20, new): Cannibalize 440 of your own Health over 15 sec to gain (440 + Spirit) Mana.
  • Binding Heal (level 32, new): Heal yourself and a friendly target for 296 to 353.
  • Shadow Word: Death (level 32, new): A word of dark binding that inflicts 294 to 311 Shadow damage to the target.
  • Penance (level 40, new): Dealing 53 Holy damage every 1 sec.
  • Prayer of Mending (level 50, new): Places a spell on the target that heals them for [(298 + (Healing * 0.42899999)) * (1 * 1)] the next time they take damage or receive non-periodic healing.

Reworked talent trees

Of 52 talents, 14 are new and 34 changed compared with Classic Era (renamed, moved or reworked). Examples of new talents:

  • Power in Light (Discipline, at 5/5): Your Smite and Penance spells deal 10% increased damage to targets afflicted with your Holy Fire or Shadow Word: Pain.
  • Holy Binding (Holy, 1/1): Each time you heal a target other than yourself with Flash Heal, you are healed for 50% as much. This healing generates no threat.
  • Improved Mind Flay (Shadow, at 2/2): Each instance of damage of Mind Flay deals 20% more damage than its previous instance of damage.

The full tree with every rank is in the Priest talent calculator.

Tier list ratings

As of 1 November 2026. The tiers combine several tier lists and a level-60 simulation (median, details on the rankings page).

CategorySpecializationTierRangeSources
PvE DPS (raid)ShadowAB–A3

PvE healersDisciplineAB–S5
PvE dungeon DPS (beta lvl 30)ShadowCC–B3
PvP (battleground/open world)ShadowAA–S2
PvP (battleground/open world)DisciplineAA–S2
PvP (battleground/open world)HolyCD–B2

Reasons in brief:

  • Shadow, PvE DPS (raid): SeeMeta and RankedBoost (recently raised from B) say A thanks to Shadowform and good mana; the simulation has it just inside B at 66%.
  • Holy, PvE healers: Very mana-efficient (Prayer of Mending, Litany of Light) and strong at group healing; SeeMeta calls it the strongest raid healer of the beta, RankedBoost only B.
  • Discipline, PvE healers: Strong on the tank (Penance, Divine Aegis) and brings Power Infusion; the level-30 lists say S.
  • Shadow, PvP (battleground/open world): SeeMeta S: 5 s Silence and Shadowform (more damage, less physical damage taken); RankedBoost A.
  • Discipline, PvP (battleground/open world): Power Infusion and Penance for damage and support, Improved Mana Burn against healers.
  • Holy, PvP (battleground/open world): Prayer of Mending and Spell Warding help, but without control or protection it is easy to lock down; RankedBoost even says D.

Beta/PTR state before the 4 November 2026 launch. The sources rely on the level-30 beta, talent analysis and simulations – there are no raid logs yet. Ratings will change after launch.

Context

The tiers above rest on the beta (capped at level 30), talent analysis and simulations – raid logs only exist once the raids open on 9 December 2026. If you want to play a Priest, pick the specialization mainly by role and feel, and read the tiers as a snapshot.

For finding groups, keep the role balance in mind: tanks and healers are usually in higher demand in dungeons and raids than damage dealers. Plan the talent tree in the talent calculator and share it with your group as a link; from level 40, dual talent specialization lets you keep two builds.
